We Don’t Lift Racing had been competing with the NSX as it sat since 2016 but we were not getting a lot of media attention. Our title sponsor, SPN Performance, wanted to change that. We decided to do what had worked for a Formula 1 team that year- going pink. We decided on a Force India inspired color scheme for the NSX. I used the beautiful lines that already exist on the NSX for the actual design.
This was what I came up with.
I was then able to create the design in Forza. I provided screenshots from Forza to our wrap specialist and photoshopped sponsor logos onto the car to give an idea of what it should look like when finished.
This was the result.
We did the wrap completely in secret- a total of about 8 people knew about the change, which occurred completely within one month gap between events. After the wrap was finished, in order to announce the new livery(and release a new series of t-shirts) I announced a Facebook livestream giveaway event.
I recorded and edited an announcement video for the new livery on the vehicle. I then recorded myself at 5PM on a laptop pretending to do the simple giveaway stream. I then edited the fake stream video to appear to glitch out, and then rolled the footage of the announcement video. This starts to happen at the timestamp 2:50 if you’d like to watch.
I then played the video on the livestream, which started at 5PM, so the lighting continuity would be the same. For the live audience, this was a real treat, and the livestream was a huge success in terms of promoting the new products we were releasing- we sold more than we ever had before.
